We simulated Chelsea vs Liverpool to get a Premier League score prediction

Chelsea take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday night in the first game since the sacking of Graham Potter.

Todd Boehly displayed his ruthlessness on Sunday evening when Chelsea announced Potter’s dismissal, with the Englishman the second manager Boehly has fired this season. The decision came after the Blues’ 1-0 loss to Aston Villa, a result that moved them into the bottom half of the Premier League table.

With 10 games to go, Chelsea needs to start picking up results if they want to secure a European spot for next season, and they face an out-of-form Liverpool next. The reverse fixture ended in a 0-0 draw at Anfield, with all of the last five meetings between the two sides ending in draws.

So, could Chelsea beat Liverpool on Tuesday? We simulated the game to get a score prediction and this is what happened.

Chelsea vs Liverpool simulated to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions. Managers cannot be changed in FIFA 23 kick-off, so Potter is still listed as Chelsea manager.

We predict that the Blues could line up in a 3-4-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Kepa; Chalobah, Koulibaly, Badiashile; James, Fernandez, Kovacic, Chilwell; Mount, Havertz, Felix.

We predict that Liverpool could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Fabinho, Milner, Henderson; Salah, Firmino, Nunez.

Liverpool were the team on top in the opening stages of the game, with the Blues failing to register a single shot in the first half where they were lucky not to concede. The Reds looked most dangerous on the counterattack, and just after the break, Liverpool took the lead.

After a turnover of possession in midfield, Enzo Fernandez was dispossessed by James Milner who launched a ball forward for Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan used his pace to cut across Trevoh Chalobah and charge towards goal, and his effort snuck under the arm of Kepa to put the Reds ahead.

Following the goal, Chelsea made a triple change, with Noni Madueke, N'Golo Kante and Marc Cucurella all being introduced. The Blues looked better after making the subs, and it was one of them who drew the game level after 66 minutes.

Marc Cucurella played a one-two with Ben Chilwell before returning the pass to the Englishman and setting him free down the left. His deep cross into the box was cut out by Andrew Robertson at the back post, but the defender scuffed his clearance, allowing Madueke to bravely head the looping ball over the outrushing Alisson and into the net.

It wasn't the prettiest of goals, but it got the Blues back into the game, despite only having a few shots at goal. Liverpool replied with a few chances of their own, and in the 78th minute, Diogo Jota handed Jurgen Klopp's side the lead.

Deployed on the left, Jota found a pocket of space in between Chalobah and Koulibaly before being fed a pass by Fabinho. A good first touch sent the striker through on goal, and despite his effort striking the hand of Kepa, the ball trickled into the net, and Liverpool left Stamford Bridge with all three points.
