'We're all good': Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott shut down split speculation with fun roller-skating date

Things seemed a bit touch and go for a while, but Sam Thompson insists that he and girlfriend Zara McDermott are firmly back on track.

Fans feared the worst after pictures emerged showing them to be seemingly arguing and then another day an emotional Thompson was snapped being consoled by best friend Pete Wicks outside an awards ceremony.

“We’re all good” Thompson tells the Standard as he and McDermott attend the Barbie X Stanley launch party at Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace in west London.

The I’m A Celebrity winner and former Strictly Come Dancing star were all smiles as they posed together for some fun shots taking a sip from the specially-designed drinkware to celebrate iconic doll Barbie’s 65th anniversary.

However McDermott chickened out when it came to hitting the roller rink, leaving the honours to Thompson, who was kindly given a helping hand by a member of staff.

“Did you see that?” he exclaimed afterwards. “It’s hard work! 10 minutes and I’m good”.

Another person getting in on the fun was Pixie Lott, who is gearing up for the release of her first album in a decade, Encino, on September 27.

It has been a busy couple of years for the Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh) hit-maker. In addition to starring in a West End play, she became a coach on The Voice Kids UK, married the love of her life Oliver Cheshire and then gave birth to their first child last October.

Pixie Lott enjoyed having a catch up with influencer Sugapuff (Barbie X Stanley)

“It goes so quick” she said, expressing how she can’t believe how son Albert - who she has nicknamed “Bertie” - is soon to turn one.

She is one hundred percent going to throw him a birthday party and is currently leaning towards a Paddington Bear themed bash.

Other celebrities in attendance at the VIP bash included models Roxy Horner and Vogue Williams, and influencers Patricia Bright, Gemma Summer, Sugapuff and Mr Thomas English aka Vinny Thomas who definitely brought the Kenergy dressed as Ken.

Guests sipped on an array of delicious fruity mocktails and were treated to music by DJ Chelsea Little.

Those not brave enough to have a go at skating themselves could watch professionals perform some jaw-dropping routines.

Popular cup brand Stanley is launching eight new Barbie-inspired Quencher designs next month, with those in attendance lucky to leave with two of them and a necklace which said “Dynamite”.
