Aldi has been crowned the cheapest supermarket to get your Christmas dinner from, according to new research.
FCA-regulated credit broker, CashLady.com, has confirmed that Aldi has come out on top as the cheapest British supermarket to shop for your roast dinner this Christmas. However, we wanted to see if the supermarket really lives up to this new research - so had to find out for ourselves.
So reporter Abbie Meehan was sent out in the snow storm to find out just how much a full Christmas dinner for a family would cost - and she was surprised by the sheer value on offer.

Read on below to find out more about how much each item costs, and the total price you'd be paying for an Aldi Christmas dinner.
The nine items ranked in Aldi's Christmas Dinner
The supermarket could be compared to a virtual battlefield now, with beeps going off, intent mums fighting for the best turkey, and the middle aisle like a Black Friday sale of old.
I went at probably the busiest time you could go, just after everyone's workday typically finished - but I was really surprised.
Everything I was looking for was in decent stock on the shelves, aside from the roast potatoes and the stuffing. However, one worker informed me that they would have more in stock soon.
The following items were all in healthy stock at Aldi:
- A whole turkey - any size
- Carrots
- Brussel sprouts
- Red cabbage
- Gravy granules
- Cranberry sauce
- Christmas pudding
All of these ingredients, including the stuffing and roast potatoes, were included in the investigation into the cheapest Christmas roast. In total, the study found that Aldi had a price average of £24.43 for these nine items.
But what did I find?
For the turkey, it cost just £13.49 to feed between four to six people. For larger families, a medium turkey crown was just £15.49 and could feed up to seven.
The largest turkey crown was £19.99 and could feed nine people in total - but for averages sake, we would pick the Small British Ready Basted Whole Turkey at £13.49.
On the website, roast potatoes cost 95p for a one kilogram bag, and stuffing was slightly more expensive at £2.39 for Specially Selected Pork Stuffing.
Carrots were cheap as chips, at just 24p for a whole bag. Brussel sprouts were slightly more expensive at 89 pence, but with a bag big enough to feed a small army. Red cabbage was 61 pence for one head, and is available in both red and white variety.
Chicken gravy granules were 99p, and the coveted cranberry sauce was 55p for a 200 gram jar.
And finally, the pièce de résistance - the Christmas pudding. There was really special ones available, flavoured like plums, sticky toffee pudding and pink gin!
However, the bog standard matured Christmas pudding came in at just 89p, with a bigger version available at £1.85.
Altogether, an Aldi Christmas dinner shop would have cost me £21, which includes all the in-store offers available right now.
One item that really stood out for me was the selection of Christmas puddings available for a variety of costs. Ranging all the way from £8.99 down to just 89 pence, there's a way for everyone to enjoy a Christmas pud this year.
Overall, Aldi knocked it out the park in terms of value, choice of products available, and cost-effectiveness to ensure that everyone can enjoy a Christmas dinner this year - no matter their situation.
