Jurgen Klopp has offered up an explanation as to why star forward Mohamed Salah has not been able to make more of an impact in matches so far this season.
The Egyptian, who signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool during the summer, has five goals to his name in all competitions so far this season, but only two have arrived in the Reds' first seven Premier League matches and with Manchester City new-boy Erling Haaland already on a staggering return of 14, Salah's hopes of retaining the golden boot are already looking like a tall order.
But Klopp, who changed his formation for the 2-0 win against Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, believes Salah's teammates can help get their talisman on the ball more often in the right areas with some improvements of their own

Speaking to Indian Champions League broadcast rights holders Sony Sports Network, prior to the Rangers match, he said: "Now, so the position (has) not really changed and what he has to do hasn't changed. It's just how it always was when we don't play our best football, then we have been too static.
"That means when we are static, it's a bit more often outside wide. There are always moments where we have to be outside wide, but we need him as well, because the goal is a bit more central. You need to be there as well. And so the observation is not wrong. But we work on flexibility in that area as well."
The German did away with his trusted 4-3-3 formation against Rangers and instead deployed a 4-2-3-1 set-up, with Salah on the right of an attacking trio that included Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez used as the focal point.
Despite Liverpool's comfortable 2-0 win, it remains to been seen whether Klopp will keep the faith with his new offensive configuration when the Reds travel to North London on Sunday to face league-leaders Arsenal.
