Ian Evatt says Bolton Wanderers will see which players are available before the transfer window closes on Thursday following the loss to Plymouth Argyle.
Wanderers had started the first half of the encounter at Home Park well and went close to going ahead through Kieran Lee in the opening 30 minutes, but his effort was deflected wide. Conor Bradley also saw a low effort go wide of goal.
But Wanderers were meant to pay for defensive frailties when Niall Ennis got the better of skipper Ricardo Santos to slot past James Trafford. It was a sucker punch for the visitors.
The Whites should have equalised after the break when Amadou Bakayoko's effort was saved and pushed onto the post by Pilgrims goalkeeper Michael Cooper. But Ryan Hardie fired home a late second to ensure the hosts would claim the three points.
Following the defeat, Evatt was asked if he intends to make further acquisitions in the transfer window before the Thursday 11pm deadline. The Bolton boss admitted the Whites will look what is available in the market, as he revealed what he said at the break as he tried to inspire his side to a comeback victory.
He said: “We’ll see. We’ll see what’s available and what’s out there. We’re always looking to improve.
“I tried not to speak about the goal because we’ve dominated that much that it was just about trying to keep them positive and go again. Second half it’s mostly all us and we just for whatever reason haven’t found that clinical edge and we need to.
"But we’re chasing the game and we shouldn’t be, it should be nil and they should be nervous and they weren’t because we gifted them a goal, so it’s a vicious circle, it’s as simple as that.”
Wanderers performed well at Home Park and deserved something out of the encounter. But Wanderers boss Evatt admits he is 'sick' of so-called 'moral victories' where Bolton deserve something from a game but end up with nothing and wants them to improve in both boxes fast.
He said: “I’m sick of moral victories, I’ve said this last season, I’m sick of it. It’s about winning football matches and they have to have that killer edge, they have to have that instinct. It’s okay playing well, great, but we’ve got no points for it so it’s irrelevant.
“To be honest, I’d rather play poorly, at least then we can fix it, but playing well and getting no points just isn’t acceptable. We’re far better than that and we have to start dominating both boxes better.
“It's very harsh, because if you don’t do the basics well enough, take your chances, and defend your goal, you lose games. Simple as that.”
