Residents living near an idyllic beach with a tidal pool in a popular seaside town adore the sand - but can't swim in the inviting water.
Palm Bay beach, which is in Margate, Kent, is described as a "secret" seaside but loved for its beauty.
Jet skis are allowed there, however, and not permitted at the nearby Main Sands. As a result, beachgoers are not supposed to swim in the water at Palm Bay.
It doesn't deter Rachel Carman, 58, from spending a great deal of time at Palm Bay, where she often walks her dog.
"It's beautiful. I never go to the main beach in Margate because it's so manic," the researcher said today.
"But this beach is the jet ski beach so you're not supposed to swim.
“On a really nice day in the summer it can still get busy, even though it has no facilities here.
"But nothing compared to the other beaches in the area. You're talking dozens rather than hundreds or even thousands."
Speaking to The Sun, Rachel and other residents celebrated the stunning tidal pool - Walpole Bay Lido - near the beach, where swimming is allowed.
Malcolm Hussey, 76, visits Palm Bay around three times a week. The double-glazing salesman, who has lived in Margate for 40 years, said it is "always peaceful".
Tourists, meanwhile, typically flock to Main Sands because it is larger and nearer to the town's main train station.
Margate, dubbed "Shoreditch-on-Sea" after the fashionable area of east London, also offers Dreamland, one of the UK's oldest theme parks, which is again close to the train station and Main Sands.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, the wider Thanet area typically welcomed more than 4.6 million visitors each year. The tourism industry brought £352 million into the Thanet economy and supported some 8,664 jobs in 2019 alone.
