'We know' - Pep Guardiola makes Liverpool admission before Man City match

Pep Guardiola admitted he had been keeping track of Liverpool's score in their match with Watford before his Manchester City side took to the field.

Liverpool's 2-0 win over Watford in the 12:30pm kick-off moved them to the top of the Premier League and two points above City. Diogo Jota opened the scoring in the first half before Fabinho's late penalty secured the three points at Anfield.

Guardiola's team are currently taking on relegation-threatened Burnley at Turf Moor in a 3pm kick-off with both sides needing to win for very different reasons. Goals from Kevin De Bruyne and İlkay Gündoğan have put the defending champions 2-0 up.

But before the game, Guardiola said: "We know they (Liverpool) are winning. I would like to be involved there but I cannot do it. We need to do our job the best we can."

A win for City at Burnley will move them back above the Reds - giving them a one-point cushion before the title rivals meet in a huge match at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday week.
