“We just couldn’t let this historic moment pass without celebrating it"

Blues fans have had several nights on the tiles on the way to seeing their club secure the treble. Now they can have a reminder of that historic achievement in their homes forever.

A special ‘Treble’ tile has been created by a tiny company based in the city which makes items that celebrate its history and cultures. The Sculpts have made the ceramic tile as part of its handmade 'Manchester' tiles set, one for each letter of the city’s name. Each tile depicts a different stage in Manchester’s transformation – from post-industrial depression to a technological and cultural force to be reckoned with.

They can be used like a traditional tile and included in tiled bathrooms or kitchens, or it can be framed like a picture, or displayed on shelving and bookcases.

Illustrated by City fan and The Sculpts founder, architect Richard Bennett, the Treble tile features the three trophies won this season, which matches United’s 1999 Treble win, and makes them only the second English club to achieve the feat. The tile went on sale this week.

Richard says: “We just couldn’t let this historic moment pass without celebrating it. It’s a fantastic success for Manchester City, but also for the whole city. Only two English clubs have ever won the treble and they’re both from Manchester – that’s quite an achievement!”

Richard founded The Sculpts was founded in 2020. It began as a handful of illustrative tile designs but turned into a distinctive range of beautiful drawings brought to life. In the last two years, Richard and his partner Jade King have grown their range of products, taking the distinctive designs into homewares, prints and textiles. There have also been several artistic collaborations with partners including, Manchester Museum, The Whitworth Art Gallery and Stock Exchange Hotel in Manchester.

Sarah Kelly, who also works for the company, said: "We’re a tiny little company making beautiful things to celebrate Manchester and its heritage and culture. All our stuff is hand illustrated, printed and fired by us at our little studio in south Manchester, well, back garden. We’re huge City fans and have been really busy since Saturday night, designing and making a fabulous tile to celebrate our historic win."

The Treble tile is available online at thesculpts.com or from The Sculpts stall at Altrincham Market. and is priced at £29.50.
