'We have to win there' Scotland's Nations League clash with Armenia a must win admits Steve Clarke

Steve Clarke admits Scotland MUST win against Armenia.

The Dark Blues suffered a shocking 3-0 defeat at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday against the Republic of Ireland in the Nations League.

Scotland recovered from World Cup play-off disappointment against Ukraine to pick up all three points against Armenia at Hampden.

But they underperformed in Dublin - a result and performance Clarke could not see coming.

Whether it is an ugly or stylish win in Yerevan doesn't matter to the national team boss, he just wants to get all three points and back to winning ways.

Speaking ahead of the game tomorrow night, he said: "We have to win there.

"It's that simple now and it might be an ugly one or might be a pretty one - but we need to win. 'Must wins' are not really in my vocabulary. But we have to bounce back from what's been another disappointment.

"For me, the biggest thing is that we had disappointment against Ukraine, and then did OK, and then it's disappointment again.

"I have to analyse that and find out why that happened.

"I felt the game last Wednesday was a good game for the players because they were able to dominate possession.

"But Ireland got about us and we couldn't handle it for some reason.

"So that's what I need to go away and look at.

"The result and the performance, nobody could see it coming."

Defeat to Armenia would increase pressure on Clarke.

But he's vowed to ignore the criticism that is coming his way.

He added: "I won't hear it and I won't read it. Is this the lowest I've felt? No, I've been low before.

"I've been low before and I never categorise highs and lows."
