We found the best-value Christmas dinner meal deals from Tesco, Asda, Iceland and more

This year, the cost-of-energy crisis will see many British households looking for ways to enjoy Christmas without spending a fortune.

In an effort to ensure that everyone can still enjoy their turkey and trimmings, some supermarkets are offering low-cost frozen meal deals that offer everything you need to whip up a tasty Christmas dinner.

From Brussels sprouts to roasted parsnips, pigs in blankets to Yorkshire puds, these meal deals offer fantastic value for families looking to spend less on food this year.

In this round-up, we've looked at some of the cheapest offers out there to bring you the most cost-effective Christmas dinner deals for you and your family to enjoy.

Tesco

Total Cost: £24.05

Tesco is leading the way when it comes to affordable eating and was the first to announce its Christmas dinner meal deal for five people for under £25, that's around £4.80 per head.

The seasonal deal, which has been featured in the Tesco Christmas TV ad, offers a 1.5kg turkey crown as well as Tesco brand roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire puddings, seasoned parsnips, Brussels sprouts, carrots and peas.

Everything in the deal comes from the frozen section, which means shoppers can buy early and keep it for use on the big day.

Asda

Total Cost: £22.00

In response to the Tesco meal deal, Asda has risen to the challenge and undercut their competitor by just over £2.

Coming in at just £4.40 per head, the Asda Christmas meal deal includes a selection of ingredients that can feed up to five people including a 2.6kg frozen turkey, sliced carrots, peas, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts and Yorkshire puddings.

The supermarket is also offering a selection of 'roll back' deals to keep prices low on plenty of Christmas essentials

Heron Foods

Total Cost: £15

B&M's lesser-known discount food retailer has pulled out all the stops to deliver a full Christmas day dinner for the impossibly low price of just £3.75 per head for four people.

With hundreds of stores across the Midlands and North of England, savvy shoppers can pick up a turkey joint with pork, sage and onion stuffing, roasted root vegetables, cauliflower cheese, Aunt Bessie's duck fat roast potatoes, Aunt Bessies Yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets, Brussel sprouts with bacon and Chantenay carrots with butter.

All items are available from the frozen section in-store, but Heron Foods does not offer a delivery service.

Iceland

Total cost: £28

So while this deal may look more expensive at first glance, the Iceland Christmas meal deal has enough food to feed up to eight people for as little as £3.50 per head.

Diners can choose from turkey, lamb, or beef for their Christmas meat, before picking their favourites from a choice of five sides including pigs in blankets, Aunt Bessie's Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, red cabbage and apple, Brussels sprouts with bacon, luxury gravy and many more.

Be quick though, as the Iceland deal ends on December 2.

On the side

Christmas isn't complete without a mince pie or a little Christmas pud, so it's good to know that all of the above retailers are also offering special offers on many tasty Christmas treats including Iceland frozen puddings from just £2.25 and pies and cakes from Tesco staring at as little as 99p.
