We Drove (Virtually) The Lamborghini Revuelto

We have seen the Lamborghini Revuelto. More, we've tried it. But allow us to dispel any misconceptions right away: We only drove it virtually at the launch of the video game, The Crew Motorfest. The occasion was a good one, though, because the Revuelto (yes, the real thing) was there as well. In short, we spent the day between the virtual supercar and the real one – inspiration in two universes but all under the sign of the bull.

Revuelto: Evolution Of The Species

Having the opportunity to see such a vehicle up close allows you to appreciate Lamborghini's work even more. Imagine, for instance, being able to see (with your phone securely covered) the actual assembly line of the Revuelto

The technical data is already known, of course, and we've reported on the awesome specs: 1,015 horsepower in total from the offspring of the iconic V12 but this time with three electric motors as well. Those three, two on the front axle and one on the rear, help make this the most powerful Lamborghini in history, good to drive the car to 62 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds with a top speed of over 217 mph.

It is St. Agatha's first hybrid, a HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle), with a 3.8-kilowatt-hour battery positioned in the floor. In person, it’s impressive to see the skeleton of the car. For instance, how the transverse mounting of the dual-clutch gearbox has freed up space for the harmoniously incorporated inverter.

Lamborghini Style

Speaking of harmony: Mitja Borkert, head of design at Lamborghini, was present at the event to explain the honor and beauty of being able to craft what is, in fact, the heir to the Countach and Aventador. Borket detailed the bold, yet streamlined bodylines, the obvious supercar proportions, and the elegantly flowing roofline. We also love the Ypsilon styling cues for the headlamps, and the overall edginess in the tension between heritage and modernity.

In short, despite more generous dimensions, the Revuelto is even more streamlined than the Aventador when viewed in person. It's an unquestioned flagship for Lamborghini, with the V12 on full display, the double exhaust with hexagonal sections, and many touches to remind us of Gandini's styling choices.

A Virtual Proof

The day continued with the launch of The Crew Motorfest video game, which has been tied in with Lamborghini for more than just this event. The Crew Motorfest is an arcade game certainly, and therefore not meant to represent a "simulation" of the real deal, but that does not make it any less valuable. Quite the contrary.

Since the 1980s and 1990s, many enthusiasts developed a real passion for cars and racing by way of compelling video games, just as The Crew Motorfest aims to do. We found the new game immediate, fast, and with simple but immersive driving. The graphics are satisfying to the eyes and its physics stand up to long play sessions. And at a basic level, it’s just fun to be able to drive over 600 cars in crazy settings like Hawaii's O'ahu Island.

The Revuelto certainly was the star, but the Ubisoft title brought back over 600 cars, thematic campaigns, scenarios within a truly open world, and thematic Playlists. The flagship video game is available starting September 14 for Playstation, Xbox, and PC.

Just one of the Playlists retraces and celebrates 60 years of Lamborghini, allowing the use of the most iconic models starting with the 1971 Miura.

Between nighttime atmospheres, Fast and Furious-worthy roads, beaches, highways, and technical tracks, The Crew Motorfest is a celebration. The game reflects the often carefree attitude that reigns in those who love beautiful cars. Be it inside the virtual Revuelto or in any of the 599 other cars, this is a wonderful way to spend time behind the wheel.
