A recent report said that Irish consumers may have to spend as much as €780 more in supermarkets this year.
Staples like bread, milk and pasta will all be on the rise due to inflation, the Central Statistics Office said.
It claims the cost of general groceries rose by 5.5% in Ireland throughout 2021, with retail experts saying further price hikes are coming.
We got our hands on receipts from a Tesco Ireland shopper all the way back in January 2021 and checked out if the prices of their shopping have gone up, gone down or stayed the same.
And it's clear that some items have gone up considerably, apples and chocolate hobnobs for example have risen by more than 50c in 12 months.
But the rise in milk is not steep, in fact, a 2 litre bottle of Snowcream milk in January 2021 is the same as in January 2022 at €1.69.
Chicken breast fillets, beef quarter pounders and baguettes were all also unchanged.
A loaf of Brennans Wholegrain sliced bread was up 10c, some soda water was up 3c and baked beans were up 24c - albeit a limited offer on beans currently means they are actually cheaper than this time last year, but not for long.
