Everyone loves a good cup of tea. However, a warm brew isn’t complete without a good biscuit to dunk. Personally, my favourite biscuit to dip in my tea is a Mcvitie's Digestive - for me, it’s the best biscuit for dunking.
With the cost of living rising, many people are trying to save and take to store-branded items as a way to cut down on shopping costs. We compared McVitie’s Digestives which cost £1.50 to Aldi’s digestives which cost 39p.
Firstly I put the kettle on to make my tea ready to put the Digestives to the test. I then opened both packets of biscuits, not too much difference in how they looked, but that is not as important as the taste.

I took a bite into the original McVitie’s Digestive, and the biscuit was how it usually is - perfect! It doesn’t make too many crumbs and melts easily into your mouth. I then dunked it into my tea, and it softened perfectly. The biscuit was soft and warm - spot on.
Now it was time to put Aldi’s Digestives to the test and see if they’re anything like the original. I noticed they made a lot more crumbs than the McVitie's ones but I had a plate so it wasn't too much of an issue.
I took a bite into the biscuit first without dunking it and there was more of a crunch to the Aldi biscuit. It was a little bit drier, but still tasted like a Digestive.
As I dunked it into my tea it didn’t melt or soften as much as the McVities but it was still good. I can’t really fault it as a biscuit. It seemed a little sweeter than the McVitie's, which I don’t mind as I love sweet food. It still also has the similar taste and effect of dunking an original McVitie's Digestive.
Overall, I think the differences were minimal, the biscuits were similar and both tasted good. Again, I can’t fault the Aldi Digestives for 39p. It's definitely worth purchasing and will save on costs as well.
