AN "exciting" new pub will open in Glasgow after a shock closure.
It comes after the Bakehouse on Great Western Road suddenly shut its doors after two years.
Previously known as the Crafty Pig, the venue was located in a prime position on one of the west end's busiest streets.
Now, plans are underway to replace the Bakehouse with a new pub inspired by the rustic bistros of France.
The French Horn will open next month and is headed up by established hospitality operators Paul Sloan and Neil Morrison.
Paul is the name behind such brands as Zhima, Topalabamba, Panang and Chaakoo Bombay Cafe, while Neil is the owner of Macgochans and Roslyn House in Tobermory, The Lochside in Bowmore and the Ben Nevis Bar in Fort William.
The pair have combined forces for the French Horn and the space on 508 Great Western Road is being refurbished.
It will embody a cosy French cafe and feature antique furniture, two open fires, stunning artwork and French artefacts throughout the 68-cover bistro area and 62-cover bar.
The new venue will also boast a south-facing terrace to soak up the sun and watch the world go by.
The French Horn will offer a fresh spin on classic French dishes, serving a range of brunch, lunch and dinner, and an extensive list of 15 French wines.
A number of local suppliers such as IJ Mellis Cheesemonger and Rodgers Butchers are working with Paul and Neil on the menu.
Paul said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to The French Horn; it will bring something new to the vibrant west end, offering our own spin on French favourites – from delicious Croque Monsieur or Moules Frites with Isle of Mull mussels, to our fantastic cheese and charcuterie counter.
"We’ve also put together an incredible wine list and will offer 15 wines by the glass, meaning diners can enjoy a glass of some really fantastic wines.”
Neil added: “We’ve taken inspiration from the rustic bars and bistros of France, and The French Horn will have a lovely relaxed, cosy ambience where people can enjoy a leisurely brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks; there will also be regular live entertainment.
"It’s a great location and we think The French Horn will bring something truly different to the bustling west end.”
