It's Valentine's Day, the day to celebrate that special someone in your life and remind them just how important they are to you. The romantic holiday was originally created to honour Christian saints but has since developed into a worldwide celebration of love that takes place annually on February 14.
On the day, some lovers spend time together exchanging gifts and going out to eat but perhaps the most common way to profess your love on Valentine's Day is to send the person you admire a love letter with a poem or meaningful words about how you feel about them.
Wanting to share in the spirit of loving, the Manchester Evening News decided to pen our own love letter to the unforgettable city of Manchester with the help of AI chatbot ChatGPT.

By simply asking it to write a love letter to the city, the bot wrote almost 200 words in just seconds. The tool, which can also be used as a search engine, pulled from its resource of knowledge and made references to the city's impactful music scene by mentioning the likes of Joy Division, The Stone Roses and Oasis as well as hailing the people of Manchester for their warmth, resilience and kindness.
Manchester's blend of historic and modern buildings is also acknowledged while the two Manchester clubs are mentioned for the 'excitement and passion' they bring to the city.

ChatGPT is a conversational AI-powered chatbot designed to answer questions and respond to queries in text form in a way that sounds natural and human. Built by US firm OpenAI, it uses information from the internet to carry out requests and has been trained on back-and-forth conversations so it is capable of understanding follow-up questions, admitting its own mistakes and limitations and rejecting inappropriate requests.
