Wayne Rooney shares family photo from Dubai holiday following 'Wagatha Christie' trial

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has shared a family photo from a trip to Dubai following the 'Wagatha Christie' trial. Last week Wayne and his wife Coleen jetted off on holiday with their four sons on the last day of her High Court battle with Rebekah Vardy.

Former United and England footballer Wayne has now shared his first Instagram post in three weeks - a holiday snap of the couple with Kai, 12, Klay, nine, Kit, six, and Cass, four. The Rooneys smiled for the camera in a courtyard on their break.

Wayne, 36, captioned the photo with a raising hands, love heart and camera emoji. He looked smart in a blue top which coordinated with his glam wife's £1,200 blue off-shoulder Zimmermann Fiesta mini dress.

Coleen, also 36, teamed her dress with large gold statement earrings and her surgical boot which she was spotted wearing to court. Wayne placed one arm around his wife of 14 years and the other around their eldest son Kai, who also sported a supportive moon boot.

Fellow footballing stars Phil Neville and Steven Gerrard both shared love heart emojis. Sonybales commented: "Gorgeous family." And Singakm said: "Beautiful family Wayne."

The family flew to Dubai last week on the final day of Coleen's showdown with fellow WAG Rebekah. The verdict from Mrs Justice Steyn, who has presided over the proceedings, is expected at a later date.

Coleen and Wayne were pictured lugging a tower of suitcases into Manchester Airport as they ditched the UK for Dubai on Thursday May 19 after a hectic few weeks amid Coleen's libel case. Rebekah, the wife of Wayne's former England teammate Jamie Vardy, is suing Coleen after she accused Rebekah of allegedly leaking false stories about her to the tabloids back in 2019.

Coleen said she used an Instagram 'sting' to discover 'Rebekah Vardy's account' had been sharing stories with The Sun newspaper. But Rebekah denies leaking stories to the media and is suing her fellow footballer's wife for libel, while Coleen is defending the claim on the basis her post was "substantially true."

David Sherborne said the couple had asked him to pass on "individual apologies" and to explain "they intend no disrespect to the court."

The barrister emphasised that the couple had attended the trial throughout proceedings so far and added: "They had a long-standing travel agreement with their four children which was booked in advance by their lawyers."

Both Coleen and Wayne took to the stand during the trial and Wayne described the "traumatic" impact of the last two-and-a-half years on his wife.. He told the court that the period after his wife’s "reveal" post had been "very traumatic" for her and that he had watched her "really struggle".

He said: "For me and my wife, we don’t want to be in this court. I've watched my wife over the last two-and-a-half years really struggle with everything, becoming a different mother, a different wife."

Making his closing arguments on the final day of the trial, Hugh Tomlinson QC, for Mrs Vardy, said she has suffered “very serious harm to her reputation” as a result of the post. He also said that Mrs Rooney had “failed to produce any evidence” that Mrs Vardy had “regularly and frequently abused her status as a trusted follower” of her private Instagram account by passing on information from it to The Sun newspaper.
