Wayne Rooney risks prosecution as he's caught urinating in street in London

Wayne Rooney has been caught urinating against a wall during a wild night out in London with his friends.

The Manchester United legend, 39, was seen relieving himself in the street in full view of other people at the weekend, in photos obtained by MailOnline.

Rooney risks a £1,000 fine or even prosecution if any complaints are made about the footballer’s behaviour as urinating in public can be considered a crime in the UK.

The former England star was photographed crossing the road and urinating in the corner of the street with his phone held up to his face while a cyclist went past.

The father-of-four, who was wearing a smart black suit, grinned as he headed back to his friends while adjusting his flies.

Rooney had spent several hours at The Nest rooftop bar at the Treehouse Hotel in Marylebone with his friends after appearing as a pundit for the BBC’s Saturday night coverage of the FA Cup quarter-final.

He then went for dinner and more drinks at Novikov restaurant and bar in Mayfair, with the group reportedly leaving at around 2am.

Rooney was previously photographed urinating in public against a bin in Manchester in 2013.

Public urination can lead to fines or prosecution if caught in the act by police officers or complaints are made by witnesses, according to circumstances and local bylaws.

The Met Police said no complaints have been made about Rooney’s behaviour, MailOnline reported.

Westminster City Council – which also governs Marylebone and Mayfair – introduced “anti-pee paint” in 2023.

The paint splashes back urine against the offender thanks to its transparent water-repellent later.

The council previously revealed it was spending close to £950,000 a year to clean up urine in the streets,

Rooney has been out of work since leaving his managerial post at Championship team Plymouth on New Year’s Eve.

His wife Coleen Rooney - with whom he shares four sons - appeared on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here in December, coming second in the reality show to McFly singer Danny Jones.

Earlier this month, he revealed he would consider following in her footsteps and heading into the jungle himself.

“(I’m A Celebrity) is something I would never say no to, of course,” he told the PA news agency.

“I think I said on the after show when Coleen was in the jungle, that was the one we’ve always watched and the one we both said if there was anything we’d do it’d be that.”

Rooney will be on ITV this summer as the former striker represents England in Soccer Aid for Unicef at Old Trafford on June 15.
