Wayne Rooney nets £20m new family home with Downton-style posh moniker

Wayne Rooney seems to have strayed toff-side after netting a new home worth £20million.

The former Man United star and wife Coleen can now call themselves lord and lady of the manor after the developer of their six-bedroom pile revealed its name online.

Brighouse Homes boast that the newly built High Lake Manor has been created on 50 acres of old farmland and is a “luxury estate of distinction”.

And the new build pile - once snobbishly likened to a Morrisons supermarket - sits in 50 acres of land, befitting the new title.

Pals say Rooney, wife Coleen and their kids can’t wait to move in to the property, formerly known as Mount Pleasant Farm but now called High Lake Manor.

A promotional piece published by the developers reveals the home also includes a library.

It could be the perfect place to hoard Rooney’s three autobiographies, plus Coleen’s tome Welcome to my World.

The house and grounds - the size of 25 football pitches - are far cry from Rooney’s home turf of Croxteth in Liverpool.

Rooney, now manger of Championship team Derby County, took up football there and met Coleen when they were both 12.

A source said: “Wayne will be absolutely chuffed to have his own manor.”

High Lake Manor boasts “enviable” pool and spa facilities and “luxurious interiors”, in “magnificent grounds,” developer Brighouse Homes writes online.

Set in a secluded spot behind a lake, the mansion boasts its own orangeries and a garage that can fit six cars.

Rooney - worth an estimated £100million - has also installed a snooker room, home cinema, wine cellar and a stable area with space for 14 horses.

Other features include a whiskey and cigar room, study and library - perfect for keeping Rooney’s three autobiographies.

There’s a pitch for sons Kai, 12, Klay, 8, Kit, 6, and four-year-old Cass, 4.

The couple have installed security cameras, after their previous £6million property in Prestbury was previously targeted.

Cops swooped in after a balaclava-clad intruder attempted to enter in the 2016 incident, with Coleen later telling it had caused sleepless nights and fears for her children.

Despite having bought the plot for £4mil in 2017, the family only moved in over Christmas 2021 after the development project was beset with delays amid the pandemic.

Wayne and Coleen were previously accused of turning the picturesque village of Marthall, near Knutsford, into a “footballers’ housing estate” by a local parish council.

The surrounding villages in Cheshire are popular with players from Manchester City and Manchester United, including Raheem Sterling, John Stones and Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, and Luke Shaw, as well as Liverpool and Everton players Jordan Pickford and Jordan Henderson.

The area, known as Cheshire’s Golden Triangle, was also formally home to David and Victoria Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and Cristiano Ronaldo.
