Wayne Rooney makes Everton manager 'decision' as Jose Mourinho truth emerges

Everton are continuing their search for a new manager following Rafa Benitez’s sacking on Sunday afternoon.

The ECHO understands that the club's hierarchy were last night continuing to discuss the potential appointment of Wayne Rooney as manager.

The Everton hierarchy were exploring the possibility of bringing Roberto Martinez back to Goodison Park, but the Belgium FA said they would resist letting the Catalan leave or do both jobs at the same time.

But as well as Martinez and Rooney, Jose Mourinho, Frank Lampard, Graham Potter, Lucien Favre and Niko Kovac have all been linked with the role.

And below we have taken a look at the latest rumours around who could be Everton’s next manager.
