Wayne Rooney has spoken about Manchester United's chances of catching Premier League leaders Arsenal in this season's title race.
The Gunners currently lead the league after their 1-0 win at Leicester on Saturday, sitting two points clear of Manchester City and eight points clear of United, although City have played one match more than both of their title rivals.
Despite, losing both of their opening two league outings, the Red Devils have established themselves as one of the best teams in the English top flight in recent weeks and Premier League icon Rooney has backed his old side to compete with the other top teams under Erik ten Hag's stewardship.

"He’s exactly what Manchester United have needed for a few years now," Rooney told ESPN when asked about Ten Hag. "I’ve been down to the training ground quite a few times, especially in the [MLS] off-season when I was back home in England, and spoke to quite a few of the players.
"I know the players are enjoying working under him, which is always important, but he demands a lot of his players.
"I think he’s changed the mindset and the confidence and belief of the players, that they’re actually a good team, and I think people are starting to see that this season, and they’re in a good position.
"They’re five points off the top spot (eight now), you know there’s still a lot of games to go… so you never know."
Arsenal's next Premier League game is at home to Everton on Wednesday, while Manchester United face old rivals Liverpool at Anfield on March 5.
