Wayfinder, a free-to-play live-service co-op action RPG that was released in August 2023, just got a major quality-of-life update amid its troubled early access period.

The latest patch will be the game's first-ever quality-of-life update that will bring a highly requested feature known as the Party Finder. This new option will let players find games by choosing specific activities that they want to do.

Wayfinder's Quality-of-Life Update

The developers did mention that this Wayfinder is still a peer-to-peer game and that players will not be connecting to a dedicated server.

Other than the major features included in the update, Airship Syndicate is making some changes to the world, narrative and quest, combat, and even loot and progression, according to MMORPG.

In particular, the world changes will feature decreased enemy respawn rates in both Highlands and Frostmarch, the addition of audio to trap damage, and fixes to several issues with NPCs and players getting trapped inside chests opened after beating bosses.

With regards to the narrative and quest changes, the developer now allows players to unlock affinities earlier on in the tutorial. You will also be able to witness Wayfinder Memories as long as you have the required Wayfinder summoned.

The developer also noted that QoL 1's focus, the Find Party system, lets players directly browse hosted games based on rank, difficulty, and activity.

Airship Syndicate added that this new feature will be rolled out in an alpha state and it will promote it to beta with future enhancements, said MassivelyOP.

A Fun Live-Service Co-op Game

Wayfinder is a live-service game that gets seasonal updates, regular new characters, and various microtransactions to keep it going as a free-to-play title.

While many players found it fun, it suffered from many of the same issues that many F2P games experience, including typical launch server issues.

But now, the game has maintained its satisfying look and gameplay mechanics but has done away with aggressive monetization and always online elements.

While the game can be played entirely solo, the real thrill is traveling alongside your party where you work together to succeed, according to GreenManGaming.

Being an RPG title, Wayfinder gives players a lot of stuff to do, tons of fights to experience, and many different unlocks that are hidden across the world waiting to be discovered.
