Wave group vice-chairman Monty Chadha held at Delhi airport on charges of fraud

Monty Chadha

New Delhi: The Economic Offence Wing of the Delhi Police has arrested vice-chairman of Wave group Manpreet Singh Chadha, alias Monty, son of slain liquor baron Ponty Chadha, from IGI airport on Wednesday night in an alleged case of cheating.

Monty Chaddha was appointed vice-chairman of the group in December 2012 after his father was killed in a shootout in New Delhi. His uncle, Rajinder Singh Chadha, was appointed chairman of the group.

The Delhi Police also arrested the director of Hi-tech Developers Pvt Ltd, Uppal Chadha. The duo has been accused of cheating and not providing apartments to buyers despite payment.

The Wave group is in real estate and construction and it had allegedly promised lavish housing with top of the line facilities to buyers. The group, however, failed to deliver on that.
