Watford handed injury boost for Liverpool as defender returns after four months

Watford have been handed an injury boost ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash against Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Reds host Roy Hodgson's side at Anfield in the early kick-off this weekend in a bid to leapfrog rivals Manchester City in the table. The Watford boss is expecting to have an 'almost fully-fit squad' at his disposal.

Defender Nicolas Nkoulou will be available for selection having recovered from a hamstring problem that has kept him sidelined since November.

The 32-year-old has made just three appearances for Watford this season following his arrival on a free transfer back in October. Nkoulou returned to action earlier this month as he featured for their under-23s in a draw against Charlton Athletic.

Elsewhere, those returning from international duty will be assessed ahead of Saturday's clash. The likes of Ismaila Sarr, Emmanuel Dennis, Peter Etebo and Joshua King were all involved in matches for their respective countries over the course of the break.

Like Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for Liverpool, Sarr played 120 minutes of the World Cup qualifier second leg between Senegal and Egypt earlier this week.

Liverpool have injury concerns of their own as both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Naby Keita were forced to withdraw from international duty. Andy Robertson, though, returned to action for Scotland in their 2-2 draw against Austria on Tuesday night.
