Watford boss insists on 'good' feeling ahead of Leeds United clash despite Liverpool defeat

Watford manager Roy Hodgson believes his side will be feeling ‘good about themselves’ ahead of Saturday’s clash with Leeds United despite the weekend defeat to Liverpool. The Hornets took the quadruple hopefuls all the way at Anfield and were right in the game until a dubious 88 th minute Fabinho penalty put the game to bed at 2-0.

Watford have overcome a tough run of fixtures with just a three point gap to safety, though the side directly above them Everton, do have two games in hand. Hodgson’s men now face matches against Leeds, Brentford and Burnley at home in three of their next four, which ultimately go a long way to deciding their fate.

The first of those games comes against Leeds this weekend, and a win could drag the Whites back into the battle. Speaking after the game against Liverpool on Saturday, Hodgson revealed that his side did not get too down about the result at Anfield and is instead hopeful of a positive mindset for the game against Leeds.

Via quotes from Herts Live, he said: "And I think that when I see them tomorrow, when they come in to get their warm down, or we get a chance to work with the ones who didn't play, I think they'll actually be feeling reasonably good about themselves. Knowing what we did on the field, what we set out to do. You know, we were working for a while together now. And in particularly these last two or three weeks, you know, we've been exacerbated the amount of work we're doing on our style of play, if you like, or the way we want to play.

"And I think they'll look and think, 'Well, actually, we stuck to the task quite well. And we can see that if we keep doing this, maybe there will be some joy for us going forward.' That's what I'd like to think, but it was it was a quiet dressing room. It wasn't people ranting and raving anyway – not even me."
