Adam Thomas has shared that returning to Waterloo Road has helped him with his grief.
The actor, who plays Donte Charles in the BBC school-based drama, appeared on Loose Women to discuss his latest role. In the BBC programme, the first episode showed the character dealing with immense grief after losing his wife, and mother of his children, Chlo, in a freak accident.
The schoolkids had been rioting when Chlo was hit by a car. She suspected that she was fine and went about her day as normal, without going to the hospital to be checked over.

However, she later collapsed and died, leaving Donte reeling. He was left to be a single dad to their two children while fighting with grief.
Speaking about the role and his own struggles with grief, actor Adam said: "I feel like everything happens for a reason because before the show, Waterloo Road, I had not long lost my dad. I was struggling, but I didn't realise how much I was struggling until this storyline.
"With the grief storyline and me researching into the character really helped me deal with my own grief. It helped me come to terms with the fact that he has gone. I needed to accept the fact that he has gone for me to move on.
"This storyline is not only helping loads of people out there watching it but also for me, personally, it's been that little bit extra special. It's been amazing."
