Water Supply Runs Out At Jabalya Refugee Camp In Gaza

Palestinians with animal-drawn carts collect water from a water desalination plant, amid water shortages, in central Gaza Strip

The Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza is facing a dire situation as the water supply has completely run out, according to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). The camp, which has been under siege due to an ongoing Israeli military operation, is home to thousands of residents who are now struggling with deteriorating living conditions.

UNRWA has reported that families in Jabalya are stranded in their homes with limited access to water and food. The Israeli military operation in the area has been ongoing for over two weeks and has resulted in the deaths of over 400 Palestinians, as confirmed by Gaza Civil Defense.

Concern is growing for those trapped under the rubble, with first responders facing obstacles in reaching them. Despite urgent requests from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to access the trapped individuals, Israeli authorities have denied permission for five consecutive days, leading to further delays in rescue efforts.

The Palestinian Civil Defense security service has reported that dozens of bodies are scattered in the streets of Jabalya, with many more believed to be trapped under the rubble. The situation in the camp remains critical, with lives at stake due to the ongoing military operation and the challenges faced by rescue teams.
