People are being warned about the dangers of the sea following a serious incident in North Tyneside.
Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade (TVLB) was called to Whitley Bay after a 15-year-old girl was recovered from the sea in a critical condition.
The girl was part of a group of four who had all been in the water on Saturday before getting into difficulty.

Passers-by rescued the girl from the sea and then carried out CPR until paramedics arrived at the scene, with four people transported to hospital.
Now the TVLB is encouraging people to be safe at the sea and act responsibly.
A spokesman for TVLB said: "Following a sad number of fatalities and serious incidents in the sea and inland water in recent days, we would encourage all those intending to go to the coast to act carefully and responsibly.
"RNLI Lifeguards are now stationed on all four of the beaches in North Tyneside and swimming between their red and yellow flags is highly recommended.
"While the weather has improved, the sea temperature remains low and the risk of cold water shock is very high at this time of the year.
"We would encourage anyone going into the sea to take their time in allowing their body to acclimatise and avoid going straight into a swim or out of their depth."
