Northwestern — and the weather — put up one heck of a fight against the No. 2 Ohio State football team on Saturday. The Wildcats jumped to a 7-0 lead, held the explosive Buckeye offense scoreless until very late in the first half and went into the locker room tied at 7.
The second half was similar, but Ohio State was a bit more effective moving the ball, capping two drives with touchdowns for a 21-7 victory.
Buy Buckeyes TicketsNorthwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald felt good about his team’s chances to hang in there when he saw the weather report, but was disappointed the Wildcats couldn’t finish the deal.
Fitzgerald met with reporters after the game to discuss what he saw and was complimentary of Ohio State despite the struggles, giving the conditions a lot of credit for slowing the OSU offense. Watch his press conference in its entirety thanks to the Northwestern Wildcats website.
Ohio State comes back home and faces Indiana this Saturday.
