Mohamed Salah and Liverpool continued their blistering form in the Premier League this season with a comfortable win at the London Stadium – watch the West Ham vs Liverpool Premier League highlights here.
Liverpool Thrash West Ham
The game’s first chance fell to West Ham and Lucas Paqueta, as Jarrod Bowen played a cross to the Brazilian who wasn’t able to hit the target from close range after slipping inside the box.
Mohamed Salah was handed a golden opportunity to put the visitors ahead just after the Paqueta chance, but the Premier League top goalscorer wasn’t able to beat Alphonse Areola from just five yards out.
Cody Gakpo slid an incisive pass through to Salah who was lurking on the edge of the six yard box, but the Egyptian hit his shot first time right Areola who reacted well to keep the score level.
Liverpool continued to dominate through the opening exchanges and Areola was called into action to make three more saves in the first 20 minutes as Luis Diaz and Curtis Jones both went close to scoring.
The league leaders finally made their pressure pay on the half an hour mark, as Diaz got lucky with a deflection from his own pass that saw the ball return to the Columbian just inside the box.
Diaz made no mistake putting Liverpool in front as he rolled in a low shot for his eighth league goal of the campaign.
After getting their first the Reds began to grow in confidence and by half time the game was all but over, with Liverpool 3-0 up thanks to goals from Salah and Gakpo.
The Dutchman scored first, as he latched on to a Mohamed Salah pass in the box to double the advantage with an easy finish. Salah’s goal capped off a perfect first half for Liverpool, with the Egyptian setting a Premier League record to become the first to ever record a goal and assist in the same game eight times in one season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold got in on the action just after the break, with a stunning long range strike leaving Areola rooted on the spot in the Hammers goal.
It was the home grown talent’s celebration that will have pleased Liverpool fans most though, as Trent seemingly responded to reports from Spain this week suggesting he has already agreed to join Real Madrid.
Salah set up one final goal with the clock ticking down, as the winger drove forward before playing in Diogo Jota at the end of his run who smashed in Liverpool’s fifth.
Liverpool’s next two games could be huge, as they host Manchester United in their first game of 2025, before visiting Nottingham Forest who currently sit second in the Premier League behind the Reds.
West Ham face Manchester City next Saturday who scraped past Leicester this weekend for their first league win since the start of December.
