Watch Welsh male choir perform You'll Never Walk Alone for the people of the Ukraine

A male choir has dedicated a spine-tingling performance of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' to the people of the Ukraine. Beaufort Male Choir posted the video of the choir performing the rendition which was dedicated to the Ukrainian people suffering at the hands of Russia's ongoing invasion.

The choir, one of Wales' longest-established male voice choirs, based in Abergavenny, performed the song with an arrangement from Alwyn Humphreys. Speaking to WalesOnline, Chris Evans, secretary of Beaufort Male Choir, said the performance is part of a wider project aimed at helping those fleeing the war.

"It's part of a bigger project," he explained. "There's a member of the Bridgend Male Choir who had the idea of putting out an online album in aid of Ukrainian refugees. There are about eight other choirs who have all chosen songs to record, and we decided to record You'll Never Walk Alone. Once everyone has recorded their songs, the University of South Wales will be bringing it all together on the technical side."

Chris said it was hugely important for people to show their solidarity with the Ukraine and help in any way they can. "It doesn't go away. You see it every day no matter what TV channel you put on. It's horrendous.

"Male choirs, female choirs and mixed choirs in Wales have got a great tradition of supporting charity, you know. We won't be charging people for the album but we will be asking people to make donations where they can which will go to organisations helping Ukrainian refugees.

"You see Zelensky asking any men who can to join in the fight. It's the families, the wives and children, who are the refugees. I couldn't imagine having to do that. We are really pleased with the video."
