Watch: Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga shows off jumper in offseason workout

While all eyes on are on the Eastern Conference Finals as the Denver Nuggets wait for an opponent in the NBA Finals, a young piece of the Golden State Warriors is working on his game in the early stages of the offseason.

Following the Warriors’ second-round exit in the 2023 playoffs, Jonathan Kuminga is back on the court.

In a recent workout, Kuminga showed off his jumper and different looks at his offensive repertoire. During his offseason workout at St. Johns, Kuminga hit a flurry of jumpers off the dribble while creating space against defenders in different drills. Along with knocking down different midrange shots, Kuminga also buried a few triples.

During his second season in the league, the 20-year-old slashing forward averaged 9.9 points on 52.5% shooting from the floor with 3.4 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per contest.

While the Warriors vied for playoff position during the stretch run of the regular season, Kuminga was a consistent piece while Andrew Wiggins missed time due to a personal matter. Over his final 19 games, the G League Ignite product averaged 13.7 points on 60% shooting from the floor with 4.4 boards and 1.8 assists in 24.2 minutes per game.

While he finished his sophomore regular season on a high note, Kuminga fell out of Steve Kerr’s rotation in the 2023 playoffs. In the postseason, Kuminga played 10 games, averaging 3.4 points on 54.2% shooting from the field in 6.1 minutes per game.

Despite his lack of playing time, it’s encouraging to see Kuminga already back in the gym working on his game. For the Warriors to get back into contention during the 2023-24 season, they will need Kuminga to continue to make positive strides in his development on the court.
