New Orleans Saints safety and hometown hero Tyrann Mathieu puts the first points on the board against the New England Patriots with an interception touchdown. Mac Jones got hit by Carl Granderson on the play which led to the ball floating in the air for Mathieu to grab.
It was the first Saints touchdown since the first half against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. The offense still hasn’t scored since the halfway point of the first quarter against the Packers.
This was Mathieu’s first interception of the season and his fourth in a Saints uniform. It was his first touchdown since Week 2 of the 2021 season and fourth of his career. The Saints defense as a whole needs just one more interception to tie last season’s total (7), and it’ sonly Week 5.
