Sean McVay finds ways to connect to every player on his team, whether it’s a rookie or a 15-year veteran. It’s part of what makes him such a great coach, treating everyone like his peer instead of acting like he’s above them.
In a recent training camp practice, McVay and rookie cornerback Derion Kendrick shared a perfect teaching moment on the field after a rep. The conversation came presumably after Kendrick got beat on a play, which McVay indicated was his first “loss” in practice.
McVay coached Kendrick up on his technique, teaching him how he could’ve played the ball and used his strengths to break up the pass. McVay didn’t criticize the young corner, and Kendrick took the coaching well.
It was truly the best example of a coach helping a young player improve during his first training camp.
Love this teaching moment between Sean McVay and Derion Kendrick
