THIS is a vision of what an electric-powered 2+2 roadster might look like – courtesy of Polestar.
And the O2 is the sort of machine from the premium Swedish car maker that might entice many petrolheads away from their current gas-guzzlers.
That’s not least because it comes equipped with one very cool feature – a drone that drivers can launch from the back of the car to film their escapades.
While there is no word on the powertrain yet, it will doubtless have the superb linear acceleration and sharp regenerative braking that many current EV drivers already enjoy.
Indeed, Polestar bosses say its bespoke aluminium platform and other engineering features mean it will deliver a lively, light and confidence-inspiring driving experience.
The O2 is also a hard-top convertible, which would make it a definite winner with Scottish motorists who often face more challenging weather.
Design-wise, it has a low and wide body with an assertive stance, compact cabin design, minimal overhangs and a long wheelbase – embodying classic sports car proportions but with a clearly modern, electric feel.
As you would expect, Polestar promises to use loads of eco-friendly materials and technology throughout the car.
But the cinematic drone that offers atmospheric or action-filled sequences, which can be shared from a 15in centre display when the car is parked, could be a clincher.
A big question is whether the dream will become a reality. Polestar chief Thomas Ingenlath said: “Polestar O2 is our hero car – it opens the door to our secret chamber of future potential.”
