Watch the moment couple gets engaged on stage at Christina Aguilera's Liverpool gig

Last night, fans at the M&S Bank Arena were treated to something special as they attended Christina Aguilera’s huge gig in Liverpool.

Visitors to the show on August 3 got more than they were expecting when a fan took to the stage to propose to his girlfriend - with a little help from Xtina, of course. The Genie in a Bottle singer paused during her famous song Beautiful to introduce the two.

During a stunning rendition of her hit song, Christina paused and said: "I almost forgot, I have something special for you guys tonight. A very special person that wrote in to me.”

As the couple walked on stage, Christina added: “Someone’s special day, special birthday is here today and it’s a little surprise from Guy. He said this is your favourite song and it's your birthday. Happy birthday. Everybody let’s hear it for Guy and this is Danielle and I wanted to tell her happy birthday.”

Guy then took the reins and popped the question to Danielle, sending the crowd wild as they waited for her answer. Luckily they didn’t need to wait long as Danielle quickly gave Guy a kiss - he confirmed it to the audience, shouting "it’s a yes!"

The arena tweeted the news this morning, alongside a short video of the happy couple, and said: “@xtina made tonight even more Beautiful for this lovely couple who got engaged on stage!! Congratulations”.

You can watch the full proposal above. It turns out this is not the first time audiences in Liverpool have been treated to a surprise proposal at an event. The arena played host to a proposal at the TheraPlate UK Liverpool International Horse Show back in 2019 and last year a couple got engaged at a Blossoms gig in Sefton Park , which went viral.
