Rookie J.J. McCarthy is working on a lot during his first training camp with the Vikings, including building relationships with receivers on the team. One receiver seems to be building a stronger connection than most, and it is Jalen Nailor.
It’s not often that we see a Michigan Wolverine getting along with a Michigan State Spartan, but I suppose some places freeze after all.
All of camp the combination of McCarthy and Nailor has been consistent, especially in the redzone. Both men are in position battles with McCarthy fighting for the starting job at quarterback and Nailor for the WR3 role within the offense.
Unlike their redzone work, Thursday, the Vikings social media team shared a clip of McCarthy pushing the ball downfield to Nailor for a big pickup. These two could very well help each other earn the roles they want on the team and then make the offense better for everyone.
