Sooner or later, you know it was going to be Dameon Pierce.
The Houston Texans’ fourth-round pick capped off a four-play, 41-yard drive with a 1-yard rushing touchdown to give the Texans a 14-10 lead with 7:37 to go in the second quarter.
Texans offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton told reporters on Sept. 22 that he wanted to get Pierce even more involved in the offense.
“I think when we can just find a way to feature a playmaker like Dameon, he’s shown that he’s explosive and he can create his own yards,” said Hamilton. “We’re hoping that the more he plays, he’s going to find different ways to finish runs. Not necessarily run everybody over but it’s good to see that he’s tough, he’s physical and he’s willing to really be aggressive and getting extra yards when he’s about to be tackled.”
