WATCH: Terrifying video shows ferocity of Lanarkshire house fire

A house has been seriously damaged in Uddingston after a fire this afternoon (Monday).

And there are fears that other properties close by may also have been damaged. Police say no one has been injured.

The drama unfolded just after 2.30pm this afternoon when emergency services were called to The Cuillins estate.

Four fire appliances battled the huge blaze at the property, near to Old Edinburgh Road, in the town.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesman said: “We were alerted at 2.36pm to reports of a fence and decking on fire at a property at The Cuillins, Uddingston.

“We immediately mobilised two appliances to the scene, where a fire had spread to a semi-detached property, and a further four appliances were mobilised.

“Crews are currently still in attendance and there are no reported casualties at this time.”

A video obtained by Lanarkshire Live shows the ferocity of the fire, with flames and smoke visible from a far.

Witness spoke online about seeing smoke billowing from the property, with reports on social media claiming the roof of the house is completely destroyed.

One witness said on Facebook: “The roof is completely off and over three fire engines are there now.”

Another said: “Looks really bad I have been told the house attached caught fire too - hope everyone is okay.”

Lanarkshire Live were unable to get close to the incident, with police officers stopping cars from entering the street.

A small crowd has gathered, but further information as to the cause of the blaze has yet to be disclosed.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told Lanarkshire Live : “We were made aware of a fire at a property there around 2.50pm.

“Emergency services are in attendance and no-one has been injured.”
