Shubman Gill is lauded as the next big thing in Indian cricket and has cemented his place in the team with some consistent performances in both white-ball and red-ball cricket.
Gill may not have been at his best so far in the ongoing ICC World Cup, but the right-handed batter remains a key member of the team in its endeavour to win a third ODI World Cup trophy.
In a rapid-fired Q&A video posted by Star Sports India on Instagram, the Indian opener shared some of his secrets, including why he has number 77 on his jersey.
"The reason behind getting number 77 was that when I played the under-19 World Cup, I wanted number seven but it was not available, so I took two sevens," he said.
Gill also revealed that while he was coming up the ranks in junior cricket, he idolized Sachin Tendulkar and that his current favourite cricketer is Virat Kohli and his best friend in the team is Ishan Kishan.
