Watch shocking moment Celtic ace Alistair Johnston is headbutted

This is the shocking moment Celtic defender Alistair Johnston is headbutted during a game at the Copa America.

The Hoops ace came away unscathed from the incident.

But amazingly, the perpetrator - Peru's Marcos López - got off with the headbutt scot-free.

The clash occurred during the encounter between their national teams. It came after both players challenged shoulder to shoulder for the ball, as the Canadian defender saw the ball out of play.

As Johnston ran back into position, Lopez appeared to square up to the 25-year-old, with the Scottish Premiership player refusing to back down.

As they went head to head, Lopez appeared to move his head into Johnston's, causing the Celtic player to hit the deck clutching his face.

The referee attempted to calm matters down in the aftermath of the first-half flashpoint, however, to the surprise of many, VAR did conduct a review, but opted not to advise the referee to take any further action.

Jonathan David would go on to secure a vital 1-0 win for Canada, as Johnston and his international teammates got the last laugh.

Miguel Araujo of Peru was later sent off, with VAR stepping in on that occasion.

Canada are now in a good position to qualify for the knockout rounds. They sit second in their group, only behind Argentina.

Meanwhile, a Croatian journalist remains adamant reported Celtic transfer target Dominik Livakovic is not on his way to Parkhead.

Earlier today, a report from Turkey suggested the Croatian international goalkeeper was set to swap Fenerbahçe for Brendan Rodgers' side, citing a price tag in the vicinity of £7.6m (€9m) was on the table.

But a Croatian journalist for Germanijak.hr has taken to social media to say the claims are nothing but conjecture and that Livakovic is not traveling to the East End of Glasgow.
