Washington rookie quarterback Sam Howell may not always get the credit he deserves for his rushing ability. The Commanders rookie quarterback passes for over 10,000 yards in three college seasons at North Carolina. He also ran for over 800 yards and 11 touchdowns during his final season at UNC in 2021.
Through three preseason games, Howell has flashed his big-time arm and legs. Howell had plenty of impressive plays in the preseason finale against the Ravens.
Howell escaped relentless pressure to avoid a sack multiple times during the game. In one instance, Howell facing a 3rd & 8, avoids a sack in the backfield, immediately heads upfield where he avoids a tackle, pump fakes a defender, and picks up the first down.

The preseason may be uninteresting for the most part, but watching Howell has been a treat for Washington fans.
