WATCH: Royal Navy helicopter spotted flying over Lanarkshire town

A local business was met with a surprise visitor on Friday afternoon.

Staff at Beauty Kitchen in Wishaw had a Royal Navy Merlin fly overhead of their offices.

The massive helicopter is 23 metres in length and has a cruising speed of over 200 miles per hour.

Amy Hassel from the Beauty Kitchen, said she couldn't believe her eyes when she looked outside to see the helicopter.

She told Lanarkshire Live : "One minute I’m discussing a mixture of business and weekend plans, and the next we hear this incredible whirring from above our building on Beltane Park getting louder and louder.

"I go outside to see what the commotion is and find all my team and all these people staring at this military-style helicopter hovering for a while.

"It looked like it was heading towards the hospital park. A pretty unbelievable Friday afternoon experience.”

A Royal Navy spokesman told us: "A Merlin Mk4 helicopter was flying over Wishaw on Friday afternoon as part of a routine exercise which included a flight to a local hospital landing site."
