Watch Rory McIlroy Smash Stunning Half-Volley Trick Shot

Rory McIlroy wowed onlookers as he smashed an unbelievable half-volley trick shot ahead of the DP World Tour Championship.

McIlroy is in the Middle East as he bids to close out a sixth Race to Dubai title this weekend. The Northern Irishman was clearly in good form as hit hit the stunning effort.

Former Premier League star-turned golfer Gareth Bale would have been hugely impressed by McIlroy’s efforts. In particular with McIlroy’s close control with the club as he performed a series of ‘kick-ups.’

Once satisfied with his impressive juggling skills, McIlroy knocked the ball high into the air, letting it bounce once before thundering a seemingly perfect half-volley into the abyss!

McIlroy will be gunning to end the year on a high and can secure the tour’s No 1 spot for a third successive year. The 35-year-old will be hoping to land the top prize at the Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth Course on Sunday.

Rory McIlroy Says 2024 US Open Heartbreak Still Stings

Although Rory McIlroy has enjoyed a number of successes on the course this year, his decade-long major drought is something of which follows him into 2025.

McIlroy has two victories on the PGA Tour and one on the DP World Tour to reflect back on. However, his failure to win a fifth major will live long in the memory.

During June’s spectacular, McIlroy suffered an agonising final-round collapse and eventually missed out by just a single shot to rival Bryson DeChambeau.

Speaking in Wednesday’s press conference, McIlroy explained how he was still pleased with his efforts and endeavours over the course of the last 12 months.

Incredibly consistent again. I’ve been really proud of that over the past few years,” he told reporters in Dubai.

But then, at the same time, thinking about the ones that have got away. I should be sitting up here with a fifth major title and I’m not, so that stings and that’s something that I’ve had to come to terms with.

“But at the same time, I’ve got plenty more opportunities in the future. I really just tried to focus on the positives this year of consistently performing at the highest level.

“You know, still having three wins with an opportunity to get a fourth here this week, to win another Race to Dubai title. Did I achieve every goal I set myself this year? Probably not, but I still consider it a successful season.”
