With one minute remaining in their game against the New Orleans Pelicans, the Houston Rockets were trailing by two points. With Houston fighting to keep their win streak alive, they looked to Fred VanVleet to help lead them to victory. The veteran guard stepped up with a clutch three-point shot with 47 seconds remaining on the clock.
VanVleet’s bucket would end up being the last field goal of the game. Houston went to the line twice before the final whistle, with VanVleet converting both of his shots and Jalen Green going 1-of-2. Larry Nance Jr. also went 1-of-2 from the line for the Pelicans.
As such, Houston won their fifth straight game. VanVleet’s big-time three is what laid the foundations for his team to see off the threat of New Orleans and keep their momentum heading in the right direction. A video of his go-ahead bucket has surfaced online, showing the play from a fan’s perspective in the stadium.
