Watch: Ravindra Jadeja drops a simple catch in World Cup match against New Zealand

NEW DELHI: Ravindra Jadeja is one of the best fielders in world cricket. The way he chases the ball on the field, his stupendous diving stops, one-handed catches and great execution in run outs is legendary.

But Jadeja is also human, and to err is human.

It is perfectly normal to have an off day on the field and the best fielder in the Indian side showed his 'human' side when he dropped a catch, and a simple catch at that.

After taking a wicket on his first ball in this World Cup, Mohammed Shami was all guns blazing against New Zealand in Dharamsala, charging in from round the wicket to the left-handed Rachin Ravindra, who was batting at 12 in the 11th over of the match.

Shami pitched it up and Ravindra went for the drive, got an edge and the ball went straight into the hands of Jadeja at backward point.

But to the stunning surprise of one and all, the ball just went in Jadeja's hands and popped out. Shami was shocked, so were rest of the Indians and the crowd looked on in disbelief.

Jadeja dropping a regulation knee high catch at backward point was as unbelievable as it could get. Jadeja, on his part, could only manage a wry smile.

Ravindra made sure India paid for the dropped chance by scoring 75 runs before being caught by Shubman Gill off Shami.
