Not So Happy Scottish Return For Ange Postecoglou As Rangers Frustrate Tottenham
The first half at Ibrox was certainly an entertaining one, with Tottenham threating in patches. However, Rangers had arguably the better chances, but lacked real finesse and composure in the final third to create any clear cut opportunities.
The two sides went in goalless at the break, with the game very much hanging in the balance with 45 minutes still to play in Glasgow. The best football betting sites in the UK still favourited the visitors to break down the Gers, but Ange Postecoglou needed a big second half from his side.
Things couldn’t have gone any better for Rangers after the restart, as the hosts took the lead just two minutes into the second half. Captain James Tavernier’s deep cross was met by Hamza Igamane at the back post, who made no mistake by firing his half-volley home to send Ibrox into a frenzy.
After that, you’d have thought Spurs would have responded, but it was quite the opposite. Rangers had the bit between their teeth and looked more likely to double their lead, with wave after wave of attacks on the Tottenham defence.
Second half substitute Dejan Kulusevski equalised for the visitors with 15 minutes left on the clock, finding the back of the net after tucking his left-footed effort past Jack Butland. All to play for in the last quarter-of-an-hour at Ibrox.
Despite chances at either end, neither side could find a winner with the points shared on Ange Postecolgou’s return to Scotland. The pressure is most definitely mounting on the Spurs boss, who is one of the bookies’ favourites for the sack.

Next up for Rangers is the small matter of the Old Firm on Sunday in the Scottish League Cup Final. The Gers haven’t beaten Celtic since May 2023, but will be hopeful of getting on over their fierce rivals on Sunday at Hampden Park.
For Spurs and Ange Postecoglou, they face a trip to Premier League basement side Southampton on Sunday evening. Winning is simply a must for the north London side, or Postecoglou could be on borrowed time in the Tottenham dugout.
