The Houston Texans picked C.J. Stroud No. 2 overall in Round 1 of the 2023 NFL draft.
The Ohio State quarterback was shown in the greenroom on the NFL Network getting emotional as the Texans were in the process of drafting him.
Taking Stroud allows the Texans to take a step forward at quarterback. Houston also has a quarterback who can help distribute the ball in new offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik’s offense, which comes from the Kyle Shanahan version of the West Coast offense.
Stroud, the second quarterback of the draft after Bryce Young, is the first quarterback taken in the first round by the Texans since 2017.
