WATCH: Police chase petrolheads at Lanarkshire car park

Police have issued an anti-social behaviour message to Hamilton residents after a recent incident involving reckless driving on quad bikes was reported.

Footage has emerged of cops chasing daring drivers round the Palace Grounds Retail Park.

In the video, a man is seen driving a quad bike and skidding round a roundabout at speed as locals watch on.

And in a similar clip, a quad bike carrying two people races by with its front wheels in the air.

A police vehicle appears to chase the quad, following it immediately before disappearing out of sight.

The footage was posted by social media accounts linked to car enthusiasts group Lanarkshire Outlawz.

The petrolheads - who have been dubbed "inconsiderate" due to their dangerous and reckless stunts - are known to hold regular meets at the Hamilton shopping centre's car park.

Officers were made aware of the incident on Sunday, May 22, and have since issued a message of reassurance to locals regarding anti-social behaviour.

Inspector Paul Doyle of Hamilton police office told Lanarkshire Live : “We were made aware of anti-social behaviour involving the use of quad bikes at Palace Grounds Retail Park in Hamilton during the evening of Sunday, 22 May.

“Officers attended and the group dispersed.

“We are aware of the impact anti-social behaviour of this nature has on the local community and we routinely carry out patrols in Hamilton to deter incidents and provide community reassurance.

“Where offences are identified then officers will take appropriate action. Anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour can contact police on 101.”

It's not the first time Lanarkshire Outlawz have been at the centre of controversy.

We told you back in January how a video of members of the group carrying out a snow drifting stunt had been blasted, after motorists were filmed skidding close to onlookers.

Police hit out at the reckless car enthusiasts after footage of them drifting at speed in the snow appeared on social media.

The Lanarkshire Outlawz group posted the video on social media, showing drivers skidding dangerously around streets in East Kilbride.

It took place within the Kelvin Industrial Estate during the severe weather which hit the town at the start of the year.

The video was posted on the group's TikTok account and had been viewed more than 3200 times.

In the clip, a large crowd of people could be seen gathered on Carron Place to watch the motorists drifting in the icy conditions.
