Former Manchester United favourite Patrice Evra is almost as well known for his bizarre, amusing and often downright confusing antics as his illustrious footballing career these days.
Whether it be licking and slapping raw chicken or playing with musical frogs, the former France left-back has gone viral countless times in recent years with his undeniably unique and mostly wacky approach to social media.
Another such moment arrived on Wednesday night in front of the television cameras, when Evra was a guest pundit for Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of the Premier League clash between United and Tottenham at Old Trafford.
The 41-year-old was evidently delighted to once more be back at the club for whom he made 379 appearances and won 10 major trophies including five Premier League titles and the Champions League during a successful eight-year stint between 2006-2014, alongside former France team-mate Thierry Henry and Belgium coach Roberto Martinez.
Asked by host Gabby Logan about his warm feelings for Old Trafford, Evra replied: “It’s really special, this is home. I call it home.
Yes, this really did happen.@Evra tasting the Old Trafford grass! 😂😂😂 #PLonPrime #MUNTOT pic.twitter.com/rFBOPhlX4a

“It’s a little bit windy, but don’t worry guys I asked someone to turn off the AC. When I come here I always test the grass....”
Evra then proceeded to stun Logan and his fellow pundits by stooping down to pluck out some of the Theatre of Dreams turf and eat it.
“It’s a little bit garlicky,” he joked, with Henry and Martinez both in hysterics. “But it tastes the same. This is my home and bon appetit.”
Never change, Patrice!
