The Indian Premier League will reach a milestone on April 30 as the second match of the day, Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians, will be the 1000th match since the league started.
IPL started in 2008 after India’s success in the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup.
Mumbai Indians who have won the IPL trophy five times, and the Chennai Super Kings who have won four, are the major title winners in the Indian Premier League.
Mumbai Indians faces Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai at 7.30 p.m.
Ahead of the 1000th IPL match, Sachin Tendulkar expressed his happiness at this astonishing milestone reached by the league in its 16-year-old history, saying that the tournament has allowed youngsters to dream big.
In a video posted by the official Twitter handle of IPL, Sachin said, “1000th game. Wow. The time has flown by so quickly. Big congratulations to BCCI. It is a huge achievement. More so when you see how the tournament has grown in stature. I remember in 2008 it was the first season, I was a part of it and now I am here in a different capacity. It is always a pleasure to be a part of the tournament. It is by far the biggest tournament in the world, it has given so many opportunities to cricketers in India and the world. It is a tournament which has allowed youngsters to dream big.”
